Atheys have appeared in the records in England since the 1500s, though it has never been clear whether or not these Atheys were related to the Irish Athys. So far, four participants from England have joined the project from England:
One Athay from southern England (21097)
One Arthy from southern England (22613)
Two Atheys from northern England (94621 and 101695)
These four participants do not match each other or either of the two Irish Athy families, as can be seen in the results page. Their names apparently represent independent origins.
A fifth Athy from England is discussed with the Irish Athys, because his family is known to have immigrated to England from County Mayo in Ireland.
